about

Taylor Caputo is an artist and designer who works at the intersection of traditional craft, product design, and technology. Her practice honors the histories of making while envisioning their transformation through digital fabrication.

An alum of Tyler School of Art and the Integrated Product Design Program at the University of Pennsylvania, Taylor bridges disciplines to create work that is artfully functional. Her background in fine arts, crafts, and 3D modeling informs her approach, blending the tactility of handmade traditions with the precision of contemporary fabrication technologies.

As the Director of the Engineering Studios @ Venture Lab and a faculty member in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics at the University of Pennsylvania, Taylor develops and teaches courses that empower students to explore creativity and entrepreneurship through hands-on making.

As a proud Philadelphian, Taylor draws inspiration from the city’s cultural and creative communities, as well as its rich historical context. Outside the classroom and studio, she grounds her practice in timeless crafts like wheel-throwing and weaving. Through her work—both physical and educational—Taylor seeks to connect people and places across time, creating work that bridges tradition and progress.
